“I don’t see”: Sky Sports pundit makes Leicester automatic promotion forecast after what he’s witnessed this season

November 15, 2023

Don Goodman, speaking on Sky Sports News on Tuesday, November 14 at 10:48, weighed in on the Championship’s top four and firmly endorsed Leeds United and Leicester City for automatic promotion. Leicester and Ipswich Town maintain a substantial lead, sitting on 39 points each after 16 matches.

Leeds, with a recent streak of six wins in seven matches, have narrowed the gap to eight points. Southampton is closely trailing in fourth place due to their impressive form. The Championship is witnessing one of the most intense promotion races in years, with all top-four teams capable of remarkable runs.

Despite Ipswich’s remarkable start, Goodman predicts Leeds and Leicester as the top two, without specifying the order, expressing doubt about any change in the top four. He acknowledges Ipswich and Southampton’s potential but favors the consistency of Leeds and Leicester.

Goodman’s endorsement aligns with other pundits, including Chris Sutton, who previously suggested that Daniel Farke’s appointment could propel Leeds to promotion. Farke’s influence on the squad, combined with the team’s quality, makes Leeds a formidable side.

However, Leeds is still dependent on Ipswich dropping points, which hasn’t been a regular occurrence given their loss just once this season.
