Celtic’s interest in this star player seems to be gaining traction, with reports now confirming the club’s scouts have been closely monitoring the Swedish defender’s progress at Hammarby.

Initial doubts about the seriousness of Celtic’s interest were raised given the multiple clubs linked to Nathaniel Adjei, including Rangers and several English sides. However, Football Scotland’s recent update suggests that Celtic’s interest in Adjei is indeed genuine.

The 21-year-old defender has been a consistent presence in Hammarby’s lineup, making 21 appearances in the Allsvenskan during the 2023 season. His performances have drawn attention, hinting at potential transfer interest in the upcoming January window.

Despite Celtic’s surplus of central defenders, the club is expected to actively seek reinforcements after a lackluster summer transfer period. Manager Brendan Rodgers has emphasized the need for quality additions capable of slotting into the team regularly.

While Adjei may lack the proven experience in larger European leagues, his regular playing time at Hammarby makes him an attractive prospect. Celtic’s urgency for attacking talent due to injuries and potential player absences during the Asian Cup adds another layer of need.

While diverting resources to secure Adjei might raise eyebrows, Celtic might view it as an opportunity they can’t afford to miss, provided the financial terms align and competition from other clubs persists.
