Tottenham Manager Ange Postecoglou slammed by club icon as brutal verdict issued

November 17, 2023

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle expressed concern over Ange Postecoglou’s tactics in their 4-1 loss to Chelsea, suggesting that even a youth team could have overcome Spurs’ nine-man side. Postecoglou maintained an aggressive approach, urging his team to push forward despite the red cards.

Hoddle conveyed his reservations, highlighting the impracticality of pressuring the ball with only nine players on the field. While acknowledging the manager’s positive mindset, he felt that any team, even a youth squad, could have broken through Tottenham’s defense.

The former Spurs player and manager, while hoping for Tottenham to endure, admitted his concern, questioning the sustainability of the approach. Postecoglou, however, remains committed to his philosophy, vowing to maintain an attacking style, as evidenced by his statement after the game.

Initially, Postecoglou guided Spurs to the top of the Premier League with an impressive unbeaten run. Still, subsequent defeats, coupled with injuries and suspensions, have seen them drop to fourth place.
