View: Footage emerges as yet another West Ham injury threatens to derail season

November 21, 2023

West Ham ace is seen in a video showing him on international duty as a new injury threatens to jeopardize the club’s season.

Ghanaian TV3 journalist Owuraku Ampofo reported on Twitter that Muhammad kudus did not train on Monday (November 20) after complaining of a back injury while running, adding that he will undergo a fitness test ahead of the Black Stars’ game against Comoros on Tuesday (November 21).

The journalist also released a video showing the striker clutching his back and running gingerly during the 1-0 win over Madagascar on Friday (November 17), suggesting that the injury may have originated there.

This news is very worrying for West Ham after fellow strikers Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio also suffered injuries with their national teams.

The former needs to see a specialist for a knee injury he picked up with the England national team, while the Jamaican international will be out for at least a month with a knee ligament injury [Claret and Hugh].

If Kudus is also injured on his return to the London Stadium, David Moyes will have a difficult dilemma on his hands.

The Hammers manager will be hoping the Ghanaian’s problem is not too serious as he is certain to be in the starting eleven against Burnley on Saturday, November 25.

The Scot would probably prefer the winger not to risk playing for his country against Comoros on Tuesday, but that situation is out of his hands.

Up front, Irons has very few options with Bowen and Kudus acting as substitutes when Antonio is not on the pitch.

And Danny Ings, the club’s only experienced striker, has struggled to hit form since his move from Aston Villa in January.

Moyes may have no choice but to field the 31-year-old striker against his former club Burnley in the hope that he can make an impact.

That is more likely than with Divin Mubama, as the 19-year-old has yet to get many first-team chances this season, despite impressing in pre-season.

However, that is not yet the case as the Londoners will wait to see what happens with Bowen and whether Kudus’ back problems are a cause for concern.
