Celtic supporters have expressed their frustration with the board, criticizing their refusal to support the manager with the “four quality signings” he had requested during the summer, instead investing in long-term projects. While Michael Beale faced ridicule for bringing in players like Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers to Ibrox, McManus argues that Celtic’s missteps were even more significant.

The former Hibs striker stated to PLZ Soccer, “People have been criticizing Rangers’ summer transfer window, saying it’s appalling with all the players they’ve brought in. I believe Celtic’s transfer window has been worse. They failed to acquire anyone who enhanced the team, and that’s a damning fact. The upcoming January transfer window will be crucial in determining who can secure better players because I don’t see much of a difference at this point. Rangers are experiencing a resurgence under the new manager, and I think they will earn money in the Europa League and invest to pursue the £60 million goal at the end of the season. Celtic must recruit higher-quality players than they did in the summer window, or else I don’t believe they will win the league.”
