“Knock that one away from the team” – Mark Guidi claims there’s ONE particular signing Brendan Rodgers won’t be making in January that could get Celtic fans Angry

With Celtic eyeing squad upgrades in January, fans are buzzing with ideas on which areas need reinforcement after the recent loss to Hearts. While many positions could be flagged, the consensus points to a left-back, goalkeeper, striker, and perhaps a holding midfielder.

However, journalist Mark Guidi has thrown a curveball by suggesting that a certain signing won’t materialize despite persistent clamor for it.

On The Go Radio Football Show, Guidi remarked, “Joe Hart has been a lingering target for disgruntled Celtic fans for months. The goalkeeper position needs attention, but it might not be a priority in January.”

He continued, “If an exceptional long-term goalkeeper becomes available, sure, it’s worth considering. Yet, if it’s a choice between investing £6 million in a goalie or using that sum for a striker or midfielder, securing those positions would be the preferred move.”

Despite Joe Hart’s significant contributions over the past two seasons, critical errors against Motherwell and St Johnstone have thrust him into the spotlight. His vulnerabilities at set-pieces and commanding the box have raised concerns, even though competitors Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain haven’t displaced him.

One thing is evident: Hart’s peak seems behind him. While he might still have a role at Celtic, perhaps as a backup or part of the coaching staff for nurturing young talent, his days as the number one goalkeeper might be numbered.

Even though he’s been a treble-winning hero, the reality now suggests a shift in his role within the team dynamics.
