According to reports from Australian media sources, revelations of up to AU$9 million in debt surfaced following Rugby Australia’s (RA) scrutiny of the club’s financial records.
News Corp’s report underscored RA’s determined effort to salvage the Rebels from potential dissolution, emphasizing the governing body’s fervent desire to maintain five Super Rugby teams. The report also outlined the potential prospect of an enforced merger with the financially strained Brumbies.
Responding to these challenges, an RA spokesperson expressed the organization’s steadfast commitment to preserving the presence of rugby in Victoria, encompassing both provincial and Test rugby.
