Report details why European giants are ‘lacking assurance’ in acquiring Spurs player

According to The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare, there has been a disclosure that Ajax has shown an interest in making a move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the upcoming transfer window; however, they are not optimistic about finalizing a deal.

Eccleshare asserts that Tottenham is anticipated to secure the services of a new midfielder next month, with Ange Postecoglou aiming for a versatile player capable of operating as a six or an eight, given the impending departure of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr to the AFCON early next month.

It is believed that Ajax has indicated their desire to acquire the services of the Danish midfielder, but the Eredivisie club is mindful of Tottenham’s lack of interest in a loan deal with an obligation to purchase.

Consequently, Ajax appears uncertain about prevailing in the pursuit of the 28-year-old, especially with Juventus continuing to express interest as well.

Eccleshare suggests that Hojbjerg himself seems more inclined towards a potential move to Juventus if they were to pursue him, rather than considering Ajax as a prospective destination.

It is reported that Tottenham’s position on the midfielder has not altered since the summer, with the North London club willing to part ways with the player, but only if their stipulated asking price is met.
