During the match, 22-year-old Hyeongyu Oh made a substitute appearance for Celtic but struggled to exhibit confidence in finding the back of the net, a point touched upon by Chris Sutton.
However, prior to the game, Oh’s unconventional warm-up routine caught attention as he was spotted practicing barefoot on the Dundee pitch and using a smaller ball. This distinctive approach was noted and acknowledged by Pat Bonner, who expressed genuine surprise during a conversation with BBC Sportsound.
The renowned BBC pundit voiced his curiosity, saying, “I am sort of wondering because if that translated into him on the pitch during the game and he is putting the ball in the back of the net, doing something unbelievable, then I would say ‘umm, there must be something in that.'”
Pat further questioned the efficacy of the warm-up routine, given the absence of visible results on the pitch, adding, “But when you don’t see the results when he is on the pitch and you are wondering, what’s this all about? He must have done this before he came to Celtic Park. It’s probably part of his habits and routine.”
Referring to Oh’s barefoot warm-up, Pat noted, “What took us by real surprise is when he came onto the pitch with no football boots on and he was in his bare feet. That might be a cultural thing, I don’t know. He was running up and down the sidelines. I am telling you, it’s cold out there!”
Although Oh’s Celtic career is still seeking momentum, there’s hope that a breakthrough could be imminent, particularly in the upcoming matches.
As rivals Rangers continue to narrow the gap at the top with pending fixtures, a success in the upcoming derby would be a significant boon for Celtic. Pat emphasized the potential impact of Oh’s success, stating, “Just imagine the confidence and boost he would get if he scores, and even possibly the winner.”
