David Moyes has addressed speculation surrounding his potential departure from West Ham United at the end of the season.
The Hammers currently sit seventh in the Premier League and are enjoying a successful campaign, having secured a place in the Europa League knockout stages. Moreover, Moyes led the team to their first major trophy in 43 years earlier, triumphing in the Conference League just six months ago.
Recent reports suggested that Moyes had made the decision to part ways with the London club at the conclusion of the season, allegedly due to the absence of any indication from the club’s top executives regarding a new contract.
In response to these claims, the former Everton and Manchester United manager downplayed the rumors. When questioned about informing his friends of an impending departure, Moyes quipped about his limited circle of close companions, stating, “I don’t have many friends, let me tell you, so I don’t know who that is. That would be the first thing I’d say.”
Moyes affirmed his commitment to the team, expressing his desire to continue improving its performance, and hinted at forthcoming discussions, saying, “My intention is to keep working. I want to keep moving the team on and I’m sure we will get around to talking very shortly.”
West Ham’s remarkable progress, both on and off the pitch, raises questions about why Moyes has not yet been offered a new contract by the club’s owners.
