Reportedly, Tottenham Hotspur has communicated to a trio of seasoned players within the team that they are free to depart the club ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window. The players in question are Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Eric Dier, and Hugo Lloris.
According to a report from Football Insider, all three players have garnered interest from various clubs across Europe. Dier was previously linked with a move to Bayern Munich in November, while Juventus is believed to be eyeing Hojbjerg. Meanwhile, Lloris could potentially stay in the Premier League, with Newcastle United reportedly considering him as they seek to address their goalkeeping concerns amid injury woes.
Despite their prior significance to Tottenham, the trio has seen a stark decline in playing time under manager Ange Postecoglou’s leadership. Lloris, for instance, hasn’t featured for Spurs at all this season, overshadowed entirely by the impressive Guglielmo Vicario.
Dier’s playing time has also been limited, with only three appearances across all competitions this season, and just two of those have been as part of the starting XI.
Hojbjerg has seen more action on the field compared to his counterparts, participating in 18 of Spurs’ games thus far. Despite this, the Danish international has yet to score a goal or provide an assist. Additionally, he has only started Premier League games in the 2023/24 season.
It appears that Postecoglou is determined to imprint his influence on the squad, inevitably leading to the departure of several seasoned players. Among the trio, Hojbjerg’s potential departure may have the most pronounced impact, given his substantial playing time, although he is viewed as replaceable.
