Saturday’s Gazzetta della Sport casts doubt on Tottenham’s swift acquisition of Radu Dragusin. While it had appeared imminent that the Genoa player would make the switch from Serie A to the Premier League, Napoli’s involvement and increased asking price of €35m by Genoa have complicated matters. This is despite Dragusin’s agent publicly stating that Genoa were seeking a lesser fee.

According to Gazzetta, Tottenham won’t engage in extravagant spending to secure Dragusin and are not inclined to invest heavily in an ‘alternative’ player, essentially referring to a squad player. Napoli’s offer consists of €15m along with the permanent transfer of Leo Ostigard and a loan of Alessandro Zanoli.

Genoa seems to prefer a cash deal and awaits Tottenham’s offer. The report suggests that Spurs’ bid is unlikely to exceed €18-20m. Napoli, buoyed by Tottenham’s stance of fiscal prudence, believes they can secure the deal.
