“Fabrizio Romano Drops Update on Serie A-Linked Celtic Winger!”

January 9, 2024

Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has unveiled the latest scoop on Celtic’s rising star, Rocco Vata. The young Irish winger has recently emerged as a departure candidate from the Scottish Champions, with talks of an elusive new contract fizzling out.

Romano confirms Bologna’s keen interest in acquiring the 18-year-old, who’s up for grabs on a pre-contract basis. Celtic stands to receive a nominal fee should a deal materialize. Alternatively, Vata is open to a discounted deal this month.

It’s apparent that both player and club seek divergent paths. The Ireland U21 prospect yearns for more first-team action, showcasing commendable consistency within Celtic’s second team. Vata boasts an impressive track record with 18 appearances and a staggering tally of 11 goals for Celtic B this season. Despite this, his exposure to the First Team has been limited to a mere four appearances.

Vata’s summer move to CAA Base Agency hinted at an impending departure, yet a deal failed to materialize, relegating him to the Lowland Leagues under the guidance of Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea.

Amid Celtic’s offensive shortage, Vata found himself sidelined from the first-team action. With prominent players like Mikey Johnston, Marco Tilio, and Yang also struggling for playtime, Vata’s prospects dimmed further, despite his evident talent—a regrettable situation as his potential remains evident.
