As the January transfer window unfolds, Dharmesh Sheth, Sky Sports News’ chief transfer reporter, has unveiled a potential double transfer scoop for West Ham United, involving Jota and Ibrahim Osman.
Back in November, a reliable insider at West Ham, communicating with Hammers News, revealed the club’s intentions to be proactive in the winter transfer market. Despite this assurance, some Hammers supporters are growing anxious due to the perceived lack of progress in securing new signings, especially considering the pre-existing plans to bolster the squad even before David Moyes faced the setback of losing key players.
Over the weekend, Hammers News received a mixed update from the top source at West Ham, stating that although nothing is imminent “at the moment,” the club is actively exploring various avenues for potential signings.
With a myriad of forwards and defenders linked to West Ham, Sheth now adds two more names to the speculation, making a double transfer claim involving Jota and Ibrahim Osman.
Jota, previously with Celtic, was transferred to Saudi club Al-Ittihad. Despite reportedly earning £200,000 per week, he has not been included in their squad due to overseas players rules. Sheth sheds light on the situation, stating, “West Ham United are keeping an eye on the situation of Jota from Al-Ittihad. Remember he signed for £25m from Celtic last summer. We understand he’s on £200,000 per week, but when the Saudi window closed, he hasn’t made the squad at Al-Ittihad at all. So I think West Ham is just having a look at that situation, potentially later in the window, to see if a deal could be done.”
In addition to Jota, Sheth mentions West Ham’s interest in 19-year-old winger Ibrahim Osman from Nordsjaelland. Highlighting Osman’s background, he says, “Another player they’re looking at is Ibrahim Osman from Nordsjaelland. He’s a winger, 19-years-old. He’s a product of the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, the same academy that Mohammed Kudus graduated from.”
