Spurs Urged to Offload 25-Year-Old Who “Doesn’t Belong Anywhere Near” the Team!

In a scathing critique, ex-footballer Lianne Sanderson has taken a harsh stance on Tottenham defender Emerson Royal, advocating for the club to offload the Brazilian.

With recent farewells to long-serving players Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier, Sanderson asserts that Tottenham should extend their purge to include Emerson Royal.

Expressing her candid opinion on The Spurs Chat Podcast, she declared:

“Eric Dier, I know he’s been a good servant to the club, but you have to get rid of those types of players. I still think players like Emerson Royal shouldn’t be anywhere near the Spurs squad. Yes, he’s not starting many games, but the standards Spurs are looking for, those types of players can’t be there.”

Emerson Royal, acquired from Barcelona on the final day of the summer transfer window in 2021 for €25 million, inked a 5-year deal, binding him to the club until June 2026.

While not heralded for his technical prowess, the Brazilian international has proven valuable as a versatile squad member under Ange Postecoglou, adeptly stepping into various defensive roles when needed.

Though his playing time has dwindled with Pedro Porro assuming the role of the first-team right-back, Emerson Royal remains a dependable backup in the squad.
