Journalist Mike McGrath has indicated that Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to recall Japhet Tanganga from his loan spell at Augsburg unless they have alternative arrangements for the 24-year-old lined up this month.

Tanganga’s time at Augsburg hasn’t unfolded as expected, as he is yet to make an appearance in the Bundesliga since his move in the summer. As Tottenham prepares to loan out Sergio Reguilon to Brentford and has already brought back Alfie Devine from Port Vale, some observers may be speculating whether a similar course of action awaits Tanganga.

With Tottenham grappling with injuries, especially in the defensive department, the prospect of Tanganga’s return to provide additional cover might seem viable considering his previous promising performances in the Premier League.

However, according to McGrath on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Spurs are unlikely to recall Tanganga unless another club expresses interest in assuming his loan. In light of his limited playing time at Augsburg and the challenges he has faced with injuries, it appears that Spurs may not be overly eager to reintegrate him into the squad, instead preferring for another club to take over his loan arrangement.
