Championship side Millwall has finalized the loan acquisition of Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga for the remainder of the season.

Recent reports had indicated that Spurs recalled the defender from his unsuccessful loan stint at Augsburg. The decision to terminate his loan arrangement with the Bundesliga club came as a result of his failure to make any appearances for them.

Desperate to resolve the situation for the 24-year-old, the club has been actively working on a deal to send him to Championship side Millwall.

Today, the move has been formalized. Spurs officially announced on their website that the defender has secured a loan move to Millwall for the remainder of the season.

During his time with The Lions, Tanganga is slated to wear the number six shirt. Pending international clearance, he is expected to be available for Saturday’s match against Queens Park Rangers.

Alex Aldridge, the Director of Football Operations at Millwall, expressed his enthusiasm for Tanganga’s signing, stating (via Millwall’s official website): “We are really pleased to bring Japhet in. Japhet is hungry and motivated to play games, he has some excellent attributes as a defender and has played at a very high level with Tottenham Hotspur, so we feel he is a really positive addition and we look forward to working with him.”
