Tutto Atalanta reports that Tottenham Hotspur has entered the pursuit for Atalanta’s midfielder Ederson, joining Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the race for his signature.

Ederson has played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s success this season, featuring prominently in both domestic and European competitions. With 20 Serie A appearances and a total of 27 appearances across all competitions, he has notably contributed six goals to his team’s campaign.

Both Tottenham and Newcastle have reportedly expressed interest in the Brazilian midfielder, with the situation described as being “between interest and confirmation.” This suggests that while the clubs have shown interest, formal pursuits are yet to materialize.

Despite the Premier League duo’s interest, Atalanta is determined to retain the 24-year-old, emphasizing his “strategic value” to their sporting project. Ederson is under contract with Atalanta until June 2026, and it was recently indicated that Atalanta would seek at least £35 million for the midfielder’s transfer.

Tottenham, actively involved in the winter transfer window, has been swift and efficient in their transfer activities. Ange Postecoglou has stressed the importance of early acquisitions to seamlessly integrate new players into the team’s tactical framework.

In line with this approach, Spurs have already secured the services of former Chelsea striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig on a six-month loan with a buy option in the summer, as well as completed a £25 million transfer for Romanian international Radu Dragusin to address defensive needs resulting from squad injuries.

Now, they are eyeing Ederson for their squad but face strong competition from their Premier League rivals, Newcastle.

Ederson would bring significant value to Tottenham’s squad, given his physicality, competitiveness, and proficiency with the ball, making him an ideal fit for Postecoglou’s team. However, convincing Atalanta, who are adamant about retaining the Brazilian midfielder, could pose a considerable challenge.
