According to sources speaking to Football Insider, West Ham is unlikely to pursue a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja during the January transfer window. Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, in the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, disclosed that the Blues are demanding a fee of at least £50 million for the 22-year-old, an amount that exceeds West Ham’s winter budget.

Although West Ham has identified a striker as a key priority for this month, it appears that a potential winter transfer for the Albania international is unfeasible following initial discussions. Nevertheless, the Hammers, who have had a longstanding interest in Broja, may revisit the possibility of acquiring him in the summer.

Given the substantial outlay on player recruitment during the summer, including the expenditure on numerous other Premier League clubs, it is unlikely that West Ham will engage in significant spending during the January transfer window. Broja has tallied two goals and one assist in 17 appearances across all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, following an impressive loan stint with Southampton in the 2021-22 season where he scored nine goals.
