Fabrizio Romano Drops Update: Spurs Welcoming Last-Minute Move but Demand Permanent Deal or Loan with Compulsory Purchase Clause

January 26, 2024

Tottenham is reportedly open to offloading Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during this transfer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Ange Postecoglou, the current manager, has favored other midfield options, such as Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, over Hojbjerg, believing that the Danish midfielder’s style of play doesn’t align with his desired football approach.

Hojbjerg, seeking more playing time, is open to a move and has allegedly engaged a lawyer/agent to facilitate his departure. Spurs, too, are willing to let him go but are adamant about seeking either a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy, rejecting the possibility of a straightforward loan arrangement.

Newcastle, among other clubs, has expressed interest, but as of now, a deal has not been finalized. With the transfer window closing soon, the future of the defensively reliable midfielder remains uncertain.
