“Breaking News: Tottenham Star Jetting Off to Spain for Blockbuster Transfer Deal!”

February 1, 2024

In the latest scoop from The Standard’s live transfer feed, Dan Kilpatrick reports that Alejo Veliz is currently en route to Spain to finalize a temporary move to Sevilla.

Since his transfer from Rosario Central to Tottenham last summer, Veliz has made his mark in eight appearances, netting one goal. Despite this, the 20-year-old striker has not started a match for Spurs, as noted by Transfermarkt.

Veliz’s appearances largely came as a result of Tottenham grappling with an injury crisis under Ange Postecoglou’s leadership. However, with the second half of the season underway and the addition of Timo Werner to the squad, Veliz’s prospects for significant playing time at Tottenham looked increasingly bleak.

This backdrop sets the stage for Tottenham’s decision to loan out the young forward. David Ornstein of The Athletic was the first to break the news on Wednesday, mentioning Sevilla’s interest in securing Veliz’s services on a temporary basis.

Heading to Sevilla for a Season-Long Spell
Kilpatrick’s update confirms that Veliz is bound for Spain today to undergo a medical examination and finalize his loan stint with Quique Sanchez Flores’ team until the season’s conclusion.

He further clarifies that the arrangement between the two clubs does not encompass an option for Sevilla to purchase Veliz at the end of the loan period. Moreover, Tottenham has received assurances from Sevilla that Veliz will be afforded ample playing time at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, offering the young striker a valuable opportunity to gain experience and showcase his talent on a larger stage.
