Leicester City Set to Snap Up Star Player for a Steal – Final Talks Imminent as Deadline Day Drama Unfolds!

February 1, 2024

Yesterday, we reported on the developments from Italy indicating that Leicester City’s discussions with Inter Milan over Stefano Sensi’s transfer had progressed. The Foxes are reportedly keen on securing his services on a permanent basis.

Calciomercato has further elaborated on the ongoing efforts to finalize this deal. Leicester is working to reach an agreement with the Serie A side for the acquisition of the 28-year-old, mindful of adhering to financial sustainability regulations.

Sensi’s existing contract runs until the summer, and Inter is looking for a fee in the range of €2.5-3m. The intricacies of the transfer need to be meticulously worked out.

Until yesterday morning, the deal had been put on hold as Leicester needed to offload one of their own players before tabling an offer for the Italian midfielder.

Calciomercato asserts that in accordance with regulations, a player with less than six months left on his contract cannot be transferred through a loan deal with an obligation to buy. As a result, Enzo Maresca’s side is endeavoring to persuade Inter with a ‘fresh proposal’, entailing an ‘initial minimum payment’ for Sensi’s purchase. Additionally, there will be a bonus of €2.5m if the Foxes secure promotion back to the Premier League.

In the last few hours, the player’s agent has engaged in discussions with Inter directors to ascertain the likelihood of the transfer being finalized.

The report suggests that negotiations between the two clubs are ‘reaching a conclusion’, indicating that Sensi could soon complete a move to the King Power Stadium on the deadline day.
