Luis Sinisterra’s £20 million permanent move to Bournemouth marks the start of a wave of enduring departures from Leeds United, according to Phil Hay.
Speaking to The Square Ball on February 9, The Athletic journalist explained that Sinisterra’s acrimonious loan departure on Deadline Day last summer signaled the end of his tenure at Leeds. Hay predicts that other summer loanees, including Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, and Brenden Aaronson, may also seek transfer moves elsewhere.
Hay emphasized that there was no reconciliation possible for Sinisterra, echoing a similar sentiment to Tyler Adams’ departure. The bitterness and legal threats surrounding Sinisterra’s exit left no room for a return.
With most summer loanees facing an uphill battle to win back fans’ trust upon potential returns, the club appears focused on building a strong foundation under Daniel Farke without relying on loan players. The question remains whether this squad can replicate its success in the Premier League.
