Philippe Clement Brushes Off Celtic Chaos While Rangers Manager Smells Something ‘Extraordinary’ Brewing

Philippe Clement witnessed Rangers surge to the top of the Premiership and confidently declared that something remarkable is unfolding at Ibrox.

Taking over a team initially labeled as underachievers and hopeless cases when he succeeded Michael Beale in October, Clement has orchestrated an astonishing turnaround. With Rangers previously trailing Celtic by seven points, they now lead by two following a convincing 3-0 victory in Perth. Having already secured the Viaplay Cup, the Light Blues are now the favorites to secure an extraordinary title. Clement anticipates further progress from a squad that has responded to December’s Old Firm defeat with nine consecutive victories.

“It’s evident they’ve all made strides in the past few months,” he remarked. “We’ve witnessed significant growth, and there’s still room for improvement. The dedication and focus among the players are remarkable. They’re fully invested in the collective goal, and it’s clear they believe in the potential of this journey.”

Celtic’s recent stumble against Kilmarnock added pressure and expectation on Rangers as they traveled to McDiarmid Park. However, there were no signs of nerves as they dispatched St Johnstone with an impressive Mohamed Diomande strike and two late James Tavernier penalties.

“We’re focused solely on ourselves and tuning out the external noise,” Clement emphasized. “Maintaining this mindset is crucial for our success. We’re continually striving to improve, individually and collectively, adapting to challenges and learning from every experience.”

Reflecting on his playing days, Clement stressed the importance of continuity and growth as a team. “The best moments I experienced as a player were when we spent years together, learning from both successes and setbacks,” he recalled. “Our aim is to cultivate a culture of ambition and continuous improvement within the squad.”

“We’re not fixated on our current position,” he added. “Our focus is on relentless progress, week by week, month by month. Our approach remains centered on self-improvement, learning from every encounter, and translating that knowledge into better performances. That’s the ethos we’re fostering within the team—a relentless pursuit of excellence.”
