Reguilon’s attempt to volley the ball clear backfired, allowing Jota to head the ball towards Nunez, who then elegantly chipped it over Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken.
Frank Leboeuf, speaking to ESPN, pointed out that Reguilon’s decision-making in that moment was flawed. He highlighted that instead of challenging Jota in the air, Reguilon opted for an impractical attempt to play the ball with his foot, leading to Liverpool’s advantage.
Leboeuf’s critique underscores a concern for Tottenham, especially as the club looks to enhance Reguilon’s market value ahead of a potential sale in the summer. With Tottenham’s current manager, Ange Postecoglou, seemingly not counting on Reguilon for the future, performances like Saturday’s do not help his case.
