However, the Toffees’ Achilles heel lies in their scoring department. With a mere 28 goals, they rank among the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League, placing scrutiny on forwards Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Beto, signed for £25.75 million, has struggled to justify his price tag, managing just three goals in 28 appearances. His lackluster performance against Brighton further highlights his woes, failing to make an impact despite his substitute appearance.
In contrast, Neal Maupay, loaned out to Brentford, has flourished with ten goal contributions in 22 games. The Frenchman’s productivity raises questions about Dyche’s decision to let him go, especially considering Everton’s striking woes.
While Maupay’s success at Brentford may be attributed to Thomas Frank’s system, his proficiency in front of goal underscores Everton’s missed opportunity. With the January transfer window closed, Everton must rely on their current strikers to improve if they aim to progress further.
