Leicester City stands firm on the €15 million (£12.8 million) transfer fee agreed with Sevilla for Boubakary Soumaré, according to reports.
Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla reveals that the La Liga club is unable to match the figure initially set as part of the buy option in the midfielder’s loan deal.
Soumaré made the move to Sevilla last summer following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, with a loan deal featuring an option to buy.
Throughout the season, Soumaré has been a key figure for Sevilla, making 17 league appearances and earning praise from fans for his performances.
Sevilla is eager to retain the French midfielder beyond his loan spell but faces financial constraints, leading them to seek a renegotiation of the fee with Leicester. However, Leicester shows no signs of budging on the agreed amount.
In addition to renegotiating the transfer fee, Sevilla plans to lower Soumaré’s wage offer, although it remains uncertain whether an agreement can be reached on this front.
Soumaré, whose contract with Leicester runs until 2026, is reportedly content to revive his career with the Foxes but is also open to a longer-term stay in Spain.
Leicester’s potential promotion back to the Premier League strengthens their negotiating position, making it unlikely for them to settle for less than the agreed fee.
