Andy Hinchcliffe didn’t mince words when Willy Gnonto’s misplaced pass disrupted a promising Leeds United attack in the first half against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.
The evening marked a pivotal moment for Gnonto, as Daniel Farke opted to start him over Daniel James. Gnonto’s previous performance in the draw against Huddersfield had been lackluster.
Early in the match at Hillsborough, Gnonto’s errant pass in the 16th minute squandered a potential opportunity with Archie Gray on the overlap.
Had Gnonto connected with Gray, the ensuing play would likely have been straightforward. However, his delivery missed the mark.

Despite the blunder, Leeds managed to capitalize on other opportunities, securing goals in both halves, with Gnonto redeeming himself by doubling the lead with a well-placed finish.
While Gnonto’s mistake initially seemed indicative of Leeds’ performance, the team’s persistence paid off, culminating in a crucial goal by Patrick Bamford, courtesy of a brilliant cross from Junior Firpo in stoppage-time.
