“WE DON’T NEED HIM: Celtic Fans not DESPERATE for Return of Loanee!”

Andy Walker acknowledges that Celtic’s loaned-out talent Mikey Johnston is excelling at West Brom, signaling a potential reluctance among Bhoys fans to welcome him back.

Initially playing a supplementary role at Celtic, Johnston sought regular game time by joining West Brom on loan. The Celtic academy graduate has shone brightly at the Hawthorns, notching six goals in just nine league appearances.

While praising Johnston’s current form with West Brom, Walker emphasized the challenge faced by Celtic’s youth players in breaking into the first team. Despite the winger’s impressive performances in England, Walker doubts the widespread desire among Celtic supporters to see Johnston return.

Speaking on the complexities young players encounter when attempting to establish themselves at Celtic, Walker remarked on the Go Radio Football Show, “It’s a tough task for the likes of Rocco Vata and others striving to carve out a place for themselves. Look at Mikey Johnston at West Brom—performing admirably, scoring goals, and creating chances at a top-tier club. Still, I doubt many Celtic fans would advocate his return.”

With Johnston attracting attention in the competitive English Championship, potential suitors in England may emerge if Celtic opt not to retain him.
