Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O’Neil voiced his disbelief over the controversial decision that denied his team a last-minute equalizer in their 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at Molineux.

The opening goal came in the first half as Pablo Sarabia calmly converted a penalty after Emerson Palmeri fouled in the box. West Ham thought they had extended their lead when a header from Mohammed Kudus found the net, only for referee Tony Harrington to disallow it due to contact with Nelson Semedo.

David Moyes’ side eventually leveled the score through Lucas Paqueta’s spot-kick after a handball by Max Kilman. James Ward-Prowse’s stunning corner kick then put the Hammers ahead, with a ball that evaded everyone before nestling in the top corner past Jose Sa.

Wolves fought hard and believed they secured a dramatic late draw when Kilman headed in a corner from Joao Gomes deep into stoppage time. However, after a VAR review, the goal was chalked off for an alleged ‘subjective offside’ involving Tawanda Chirewa obstructing Lukas Fabianski’s view. This decision sparked outrage from players, fans, and coaching staff.

Following the match, O’Neil confronted Harrington on the pitch, expressing his frustration with the outcome. Moyes and Fabianski concurred with O’Neil, labeling the decision as poor. O’Neil criticized the referee’s call, calling it “terrible” and questioning how such an error could be made, especially at the Premier League level. He emphasized that Fabianski had no chance of reaching the header, further reinforcing his belief that the goal should have stood.
