Celtic has officially submitted a query over the penalty awarded to Rangers, arguing that the footage provided to the referee was incomplete and did not show crucial moments where Alistair Johnston made initial contact with the ball.

Celtic believes that this missing context supports the referee’s initial decision to book Fabio Silva for simulation rather than award a penalty. The club is also challenging the application of IFAB’s rules, stating that Johnston’s tackle did not warrant a penalty as it was not careless, reckless, or excessively forceful.

Now, Celtic waits for a response from the SFA on their formal complaint.
