Now, Peter Grant chimes in.

Grant, a former Celtic star, admits he has no qualms with the penalty awarded to Rangers. While agreeing with the call, he goes a step further by suggesting he would have supported the decision even if it were against Celtic.

In an interview with The Go Radio Football Show, Grant remarked, “I initially believed it was a clear penalty, wondering why he left his leg there. When John Beaton showed the card, I thought, ‘Did he dive?’ Upon the replay, I still didn’t observe the ball touch.

“Yet, even with the touch on the ball, the ball remained playable. The subsequent knee contact, regardless of the dive, warranted a penalty. So, I have no arguments against that decision. Would I have wanted the penalty if it were for Celtic? Absolutely.”

While Grant’s perspective may not align with many Celtic supporters, his candid acknowledgment deserves praise. It’s not uncommon for fans, including myself, to scrutinize calls that go against our team, making Grant’s openness in acknowledging Beaton’s correctness a bold stance.

However, I respectfully disagree. I maintain that Silva went down too easily, despite Grant’s analysis and the reaction of the Ibrox crowd towards their player’s actions.
