Crazy! Chris Sutton Throws Major Shade at Clement on Live BBC Show After Rangers Loss

April 16, 2024

Chris Sutton took a direct shot at Philippe Clement, branding him as “daft” for his remarks following Rangers’ 3-2 defeat to Ross County at Dingwall on 14th April.

Clement had indicated that the constant rescheduling of their Dundee match adversely impacted their preparation, though he maintained he wouldn’t use it as an excuse. Despite acknowledging Clement’s overall positive impact at Ibrox, Sutton couldn’t resist poking fun at the manager during a live appearance on the BBC Sport Monday Night Club.

“He’s generally been quite good and hasn’t said many foolish things since taking charge, but he claimed he wouldn’t blame the Dundee postponement and then ended up doing just that,” Sutton quipped during the show, eliciting chuckles from his co-hosts.

Sutton’s jest at Clement’s expense notwithstanding, the manager has received considerable acclaim for his work in Glasgow. Rangers’ loss now places Celtic in a favorable position in the title race, where a victory over Ross County could have drastically altered the dynamics by narrowing the gap to a single point.

Clement’s evident disappointment stemmed from the missed opportunity to edge closer in the race, with a four-point deficit now separating the two sides, albeit with a game in hand. Both Celtic and Rangers understand that each remaining fixture carries immense significance, with a potential title on the line with flawless performances ahead.

The forthcoming clash at Parkhead looms crucial for Rangers, who cannot afford any further missteps if they intend to challenge for the title. Should they emerge victorious, it would not only boost their aspirations but also intensify the gripping title race for all involved.
