Shocking Outburst: Kris Boyd explodes with fury over Rangers star’s display in victory against St Mirren

April 29, 2024

Kris Boyd took aim at Fabio Silva following Rangers’ 2-1 victory over St Mirren on Sunday, where the Portuguese forward failed to make a significant impact on the game despite the team’s success.

Rangers got off to a strong start at St Mirren Park when Dujon Sterling contributed to a James Bolton own goal. However, their lead was short-lived as Mikael Mandron equalized with a header.

Cyriel Dessers secured the win for Rangers with a simple header, marking his 20th goal of the season.

During a broadcast on Sky Sports Football, Boyd criticized Silva for what he perceived as another lackluster performance for the Light Blues. Boyd questioned Silva’s contribution, expressing disappointment at his quiet presence on the pitch.

Fabio Silva, a loanee from Wolves who joined Rangers in January, has struggled to make a significant impact, scoring only four goals in the Scottish Premiership. Known for frequently going to ground and appealing for penalties, Silva’s performance against St Mirren left much to be desired.

Starting the match, Silva only managed 29 touches before being substituted in the 56th minute. While he maintained a 71% pass accuracy, he failed to complete any dribbles or register shots on target, raising concerns about his effectiveness in the attacking third.

Playing on the left flank, Silva is also expected to provide defensive support, which puts additional pressure on him to assist defensively. His performance in ground duels and aerial challenges further highlighted his struggles during the match.

Boyd’s criticism of Silva’s impact resonates as questions linger about the forward’s overall contribution to the team.
