Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace faces disciplinary action from the Football Association after an altercation with Coventry City player Kasey Palmer during their recent encounter. The incident occurred in the second half of the match at Ewood Park, resulting in Eustace being sent off for pushing Palmer on the sideline. This incident effectively dashed Coventry City’s slim hopes of securing a spot in the playoffs for the season.

In an official statement, the FA stated that Eustace has been charged with misconduct arising from the EFL Championship fixture between Blackburn and Coventry on April 27. The allegation is that the Blackburn manager behaved improperly around the 50th minute of the game. Eustace has been given until May 3 to respond to the charges.

Following Eustace’s dismissal, Coventry City also found themselves down to 10 men when defender Liam Kitching received a red card for a professional foul on Blackburn’s Sam Gallagher, marking Kitching’s third red card of the season, setting a club record.

Eustace, who started his career as a trainee at Highfield Road, had a challenging stint with Coventry before moving on to Stoke City. Interestingly, this is not the first time Eustace has faced disciplinary action against Coventry, as he was previously sent off while managing Birmingham City during a match against Coventry last season. This resulted in a one-match suspension and a £2,000 fine for Eustace.

Should Eustace face a ban this time, he would miss Blackburn Rovers’ crucial final match against Leicester City, where a defeat could potentially lead to relegation to League One for the team. Earlier in the season, Eustace managed Birmingham City before being replaced by Wayne Rooney, who was subsequently dismissed by the Birmingham club hierarchy after just 15 games in charge.
