Former Coventry City darlings dumped by demoted League Two team!

May 2, 2024

Two beloved former Coventry City stars are in search of new teams after their departure from Forest Green Rovers.

Fankaty Dabo, who made headlines for missing the crucial penalty for Coventry City in the Championship play-off final last May, played 34 games for Forest Green Rovers in the most recent season. Despite his desire to compete at a higher level, Dabo struggled to secure a new club following his release by Coventry City manager Mark Robins last summer. Eventually, he joined Forest Green Rovers on a free transfer in September but has now been let go.

Remaining fond of his time at Coventry, Dabo returned to the national stadium recently to support his former team. Adding to the club’s departures is Richard Keogh, the former Coventry captain who was released upon relegation. Keogh played 15 matches for Coventry City following his signing in early February.

The duo joins a list of players including Nathan Holland, Dom Bernard, Darnell Johnson, Mathew Stevens, Jordon Garrick, Sean Robertson, Alex Gorrin, David Davis, Reece Brown, and Luke Daniels who are all seeking new clubs following their departure from Forest Green Rovers.

Forest Green Rovers expressed gratitude to all the departing players for their dedication, with a special acknowledgment of Dom Bernard and Matty Stevens for their contributions during the club’s successful Promotion to League One in the 2021-2022 season.
