Andre Dozzell, the ex-Ipswich Town midfielder, will bid adieu to Championship side QPR as his contract concludes this summer.
Having transitioned from Town to the R’s in 2021, the 25-year-old showcased his skills in 98 game outings across various competitions, netting twice during his tenure in west London.
For the latter part of the 2023/24 season, Dozzell plied his trade on loan at Birmingham City, albeit unable to steer them clear of relegation to the third tier. In his 10 appearances for the West Midlands outfit, he found the net once, while QPR managed to clinch an 18th-place finish in the second tier, escaping demotion under the watch of Martí Cifuentes.
Christian Nourry, CEO of QPR, expressed gratitude towards Dozzell, acknowledging his pivotal role in the team during the initial part of the season. Nourry revealed that a tough verdict was made in January, prompted by the club’s financial constraints and strategic market demands, ultimately providing Dozzell with more opportunities for regular game time.
Summing up, Nourry extended his best wishes to the departing midfielder for all his future endeavors.
In a nostalgic recap, Dozzell leaves behind a legacy of 93 appearances for Town, starting his journey with the club at a tender age of eight. Following in his father Jason’s footsteps, Dozzell made a dazzling debut at the age of 16, mirroring his father’s early successes with the Blues.
