Former Ipswich Town defender Bailey Clements has bid farewell to League Two newcomers Chesterfield after being released by the club. Clements, 23, had joined the Spireites in the summer of 2022 to link up with his former boss Paul Cook, who had managed him during his time at Town.
His tenure with Chesterfield saw him play a key role in their journey to the National League play-off final in his debut season, although they fell short in a penalty shootout against Notts County. During the first half of the 2023/24 season, Clements went on loan to Eastleigh, another National League outfit.
Returning to Chesterfield in January, he played a crucial part in their successful campaign that saw them secure promotion back to League Two as champions of the fifth tier, marking their return to the higher division for the first time in four years.
Having originally joined Ipswich Town’s academy at the age of seven, Clements made a total of nine appearances for the senior team before departing the club.
Joining Clements on the list of departures is his former academy colleague, Harley Curtis, who also had a brief stint at Chesterfield.
