Frustrated Neil McCann has unleashed his criticism on Fabio Silva for his exuberant celebration after scoring for Rangers against Hearts.
The striker, on loan from Wolves, found the back of the net for the third time in the enthralling 3-3 draw at Tynecastle.
Silva, known for his spirited celebrations, once again pointed at his name on the back of his shirt, replicating a gesture from a previous match against Kilmarnock.
While some fans found his celebration distasteful, reports later clarified that Silva’s intention was to respond to his detractors rather than incite the supporters.
Following his goal that briefly put Rangers in the lead, Silva’s gesture drew the ire of pundit McCann, who criticized the forward for appearing indifferent to the result of the match.
McCann lambasted Silva for his actions, stating that he appeared nonchalant and accused him of lacking the necessary drive and commitment to win every game.
Expressing his dissatisfaction on Sportscene, McCann highlighted Silva’s perceived lack of defensive effort leading up to an opponent’s goal, before sharply criticizing his celebratory conduct.
McCann emphasized the need for a professional approach from the players, especially after losing the league title the previous week. He urged them to focus on the task at hand and look ahead to the upcoming significant fixtures rather than indulging in celebrations.
In McCann’s view, the attitude displayed by Silva and some of his teammates did not meet the standards expected in a professional football environment, and he called for a reassessment within the squad.
