Brendan Rodgers reflected on the season, acknowledging that a lot of the criticism he faced earlier on was personal and crossed a line. Despite Celtic’s mid-season struggles, they managed to bounce back and clinch the Premiership trophy in a remarkable fashion. During their rough patch, doubts were raised about their ability to secure a third consecutive title, especially with Rangers showing promise under Philippe Clement.

Rodgers pointed out the unwarranted “narrative” that surrounded his team and how it affected them. He highlighted the negativity that had been building up since the beginning of the season and resurfaced after their final victory over St Mirren.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rodgers expressed his thoughts on the criticism, stating, “Criticism is expected in the game, but when it becomes personal, that’s where a line is crossed. From as early as August 26, negative headlines emerged, and I showed the team today how this story unfolded throughout the season. Some critiques were professional, but others crossed into the personal realm. However, I always emphasize that we have the power to shape our own narrative.”

He added, “It’s not just about sports; it’s a lesson for life. People may doubt you, criticize you, but as long as you stay true to your path and story, you’ll navigate through the rough patches successfully.”
