Leicester Secretly Plotting Sensational Transfer for Burkina Faso Star in Shocking Move to Replace Iheanacho!

May 21, 2024

Reports from Football Insider indicate that Leicester City, the newly-promoted team in the Premier League, have set their sights on securing the services of Burkina Faso star Mohamed Konate as a potential replacement for the departing Kelechi Iheanacho.

As the Foxes prepare for Iheanacho’s imminent exit with the expiration of his contract next month, there are also question marks surrounding the future of club icon Jamie Vardy, although an extension for the veteran forward is not entirely ruled out.

Konate has emerged as a standout talent for Akhmat Grozny in Russia, finishing the season as the top scorer with an impressive tally of 13 goals in all competitions. The 26-year-old is set to become a free agent in the upcoming window, increasing his appeal to Leicester City as they aim to fend off competition from other potential suitors.

While Brest and Lyon are also rumored to be tracking Konate, his aspirations to feature in European competitions with these French clubs could complicate Leicester’s pursuit of the striker, especially given their history as former Premier League champions.

On the other hand, Iheanacho seems destined for a Leicester exit after seven years at the club, attracting interest from various clubs both domestically and internationally. Despite a promising start to the season where he notched six goals and three assists in 26 appearances, the Nigerian striker saw a decline in playing time following his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

With limited minutes on the field in recent matches, it appears that Iheanacho’s time at the King Power Stadium is drawing to a close, paving the way for a potential new chapter for both him and Leicester City in the upcoming transfer window.
