Derby County is actively pursuing a loan deal for Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen as manager Paul Warne eyes a reunion in preparation for their upcoming Championship campaign.

The Rams have shown strong interest in securing the services of Iversen, the former Stoke City goalkeeper who impressed during his loan spell with the Potters last season. With the departure of Joe Wildsmith and Scott Loach, Derby is on the lookout for a new number one between the posts.

Having previously worked with Iversen during his loan at Rotherham United in the 2019-20 season, Warne is keen on reuniting with the talented goalkeeper who played 34 league games under his tutelage. Iversen’s standout performances in League One caught the attention of several Championship sides.

However, potential stumbling blocks may arise in the negotiations due to Iversen’s contract situation, with a raise likely on the cards following Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League. Stoke City manager Steven Schumacher revealed that discussions with Iversen were complicated by the uncertainty surrounding Leicester’s promotion, ultimately leading to the decision to pursue Viktor Johansson from Rotherham as the club’s new goalkeeper.

Despite playing 19 games for Stoke last season and having one year remaining on his current deal at Leicester City, Iversen finds himself fourth choice at the King Power Stadium behind Danny Ward, Mads Hermansen, and Jakub Stolarczyk, potentially paving the way for a departure from the Foxes.
