Ipswich Bids Big Bucks for Superstar Deal, Left Reeling as Player Snubs Them to Sign for Rival!

June 28, 2024

Ipswich Town had shown strong interest in securing the services of Philadelphia striker Julián Carranza, ready to make a significant financial commitment. However, the player opted for a move to Feyenoord instead, according to journalist Jonathan Tannenwald.

Tannenwald reports that Ipswich Town was among the serious contenders for Carranza, a forward who is now on the brink of joining the Dutch team Feyenoord. Multiple sources suggest that Feyenoord has reached a deal with Philadelphia for Carranza’s transfer this summer.

Feyenoord was swayed by Carranza’s impressive record with Philadelphia, where he netted 43 goals and recorded 20 assists in 95 appearances since his arrival in July 2022. The Dutch club has successfully outmaneuvered other competitors to secure his signature, with the deal nearing finalization.

Ipswich, along with Werder Bremen and FSV Mainz 05, had shown genuine interest in Carranza, with Ipswich expressing their intent as early as January. Despite being prepared to offer a substantial amount of money, both Ipswich and Werder Bremen fell short as Carranza felt it wasn’t the right move for him at this stage of his career.

Carranza perceives Feyenoord as the optimal choice for his growth, leaving Kieran McKenna and Ipswich Town to search for alternative striking options for the summer transfer window.
