Sheffield Wednesday Set to Crush Derby County and Norwich City in Bitter Battle for Coveted Polish Wonderkid Signing

June 30, 2024

Sheffield Wednesday have wasted no time in strengthening their squad, securing four new signings at Hillsborough. The club is currently in advanced talks to bring in forward Jamal Lowe, a free agent, who was seen at Middlewood Road for a medical session over the weekend. Manager Danny Röhl has been vocal about the need for additional players before the main pre-season activities begin, emphasizing the importance of bolstering various positions. An imminent trip to St Georges Park on July 8 adds urgency to their transfer dealings.

Recent rumors circulating from Poland point towards the Owls set to capture promising Polish youth talent Olaf Kobacki, with interest also reported from Derby County and Norwich City. Sources close to the situation confirm these speculations, anticipating the 22-year-old to make the move to Sheffield Wednesday. Although predominantly a left-winger, Kobacki boasts versatility, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or on the right flank.

Currently part of second-tier Polish side Arka Gdynia, Kobacki showcased his skills during a season where his team narrowly missed out on promotion to the Ekstraklasa. Despite their setback, Kobacki’s impressive stats of 16 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances turned heads. His football journey includes a stint with Serie A side Atalanta, where he excelled in the youth ranks. However, he returned to Poland, initially on loan with Arka, before sealing a permanent move in 2022, with loan spells at Miedź Legnica also on his resume.
