July 3, 2024

Coventry City have bolstered their Under-21s squad with two new development signings, bringing in Cambridge United duo Kai Yearn and Greg Sandiford.

Kai Yearn, a 19-year-old midfielder, made his debut for Cambridge United at the tender age of 16. Notably, he scored in a 4-1 victory over Oxford United in the EFL Trophy, becoming the club’s youngest scorer in their history. Yearn made a total of seven appearances for Cambridge United before leaving at the end of the 2023/24 season. During his time at Cambridge, he also gained valuable experience on loan in the National League South and North, playing for Chelmsford City and King’s Lynn Town, respectively.

Greg Sandiford, also 19, is a versatile defender primarily playing as a right-back. He joins Coventry City’s development side under John Dempster following the expiration of his contract with Cambridge United, where he secured his first professional contract last season. Earlier in his career, Sandiford had a loan stint at Biggleswade Town, where he accumulated essential first-team minutes and experience to further his development. Additionally, he served as an unused substitute for Cambridge’s first team during the 2023/24 season.
