Fiery Controversy Erupts as ‘Genius’ Target of Sheffield Wednesday’s Desire Appears Primed for Shock Move to Championship Competitors

July 4, 2024

Sheffield Wednesday’s former January transfer target is on the verge of joining one of their rivals.

Back in January, Sheffield Wednesday were in dire need of attacking reinforcements, as their five strikers managed only eleven goals collectively. Eventually, they secured the services of Ike Ugbo on loan from Troyes, who impressed by scoring seven goals in 19 appearances.

However, Ugbo wasn’t the only forward they pursued. Mika Biereth was another target, and now they seem to be revisiting their interest in him.

The Daily Mail also revealed that they made a loan offer for West Ham’s Divin Mubama, who opted to stay at West Ham until the end of the season. After making a dozen appearances for West Ham’s senior team, Mubama decided to part ways with the club and is currently a free agent, attracting attention from various Championship clubs.

Despite being sought after by several teams in the Championship and Europe, reports suggest that Sunderland is leading the race to secure Mubama’s signature for the upcoming season.

While Mubama might not be a starter in the Championship immediately, he could have been a valuable addition to Sheffield Wednesday, providing quality backup and potentially allowing older players like Michael Smith to move on.

Although it remains uncertain whether Wednesday still has their sights on Mubama, head coach Danny Rohl has already earned the trust of fans this summer with his transfer dealings, which could potentially give them an advantage in securing key targets for their attacking line-up next season.
