“Peterborough Chairman Confirms Interest in Harrison Burrows from Championship Trio and ‘Massive League One Club’; Coventry City Not in Pursuit”
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that Harrison Burrows, a target for Sheffield United, is also attracting interest from three Championship clubs and a significant League One side this summer. According to a report from the Peterborough Telegraph, MacAnthony emphasized that Coventry City is not among the clubs vying for Burrows, despite recent speculation.
MacAnthony stated that he would not obstruct Burrows’ departure once an agreement is reached on a transfer fee with any potential buyer. While Sheffield United had reportedly agreed on a fee and scheduled a medical earlier in the summer, the club’s takeover situation has halted the transfer process.
Regarding the ongoing transfer saga, MacAnthony remarked, “Harrison is coveted by multiple clubs. Three Championship clubs have been actively bidding for him and one prominent League One club is very keen.”
He highlighted Burrows’ value as a homegrown talent who won the League One Player of the Year award last season, emphasizing that Peterborough United are justified in seeking a substantial fee despite the player entering the final year of his contract.
MacAnthony also clarified that Coventry City has not approached Peterborough for Burrows, contrasting their previous dealings involving Ephron Mason-Clark. Despite Mason-Clark’s move to Coventry earlier this year, MacAnthony expressed surprise at the absence of interest from the Sky Blues in Burrows.
He concluded, “I won’t disclose the names of the clubs involved, but I am surprised Coventry is not among them. Harrison and Ephron Mason-Clark formed a formidable duo for us last season, but I respect Coventry’s approach and believe they are capable of making astute decisions in the transfer market.”
The ongoing negotiations suggest that Burrows’ future remains uncertain, with Peterborough United keen on securing a favorable deal that benefits both the club and the player.
