Sheffield Wednesday in Chaos as Target Deal Remains Elusive While Arch Rivals Circle ominously

July 16, 2024

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly ‘not close’ to finalizing a deal with Troyes for striker Ike Ugbo, with interest from Stoke City, QPR, and Birmingham City, according to journalist Darren Witcoop. Ugbo spent last season on loan at two Championship clubs, initially at Cardiff City and then at Sheffield Wednesday.

During his time at Hillsborough, Ugbo was instrumental in helping Danny Rohl’s team secure their Championship status, contributing eight goals in 19 matches. Rohl considers Ugbo a top target, and the striker is also keen on a reunion.

However, negotiations with Troyes have yet to yield an agreement. Sheffield Wednesday faces competition from other clubs eager to sign Ugbo, taking advantage of the stalled talks.

Rival Championship clubs Stoke City and recently-relegated Birmingham City have shown interest in Ugbo, along with QPR. It remains to be seen whether Sheffield Wednesday can finalize the deal in the coming days or if Ugbo will consider offers from other suitors.
