Coventry City celebrity fan Tom Grennan has reaffirmed his “affection” for the club despite questions about a potential switch in allegiance following Callum O’Hare’s transfer to Sheffield United.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter, who became friends with O’Hare during his five-year stint with the Sky Blues, even had the player join him on stage at the 2022 Godiva Festival. Tom, 29, who topped the UK Albums Chart with “Evering Road” and its hit singles “This Is the Place,” “Little Bit of Love,” and “Let’s Go Home Together” featuring Ella Henderson, is a regular at the CBS Arena. He has followed Coventry City for the past eight years, often attending games as a guest in a box owned by his manager, John Dawkins, a lifelong City fan.

When questioned on social media about whether he would now support Sheffield United due to O’Hare’s move, Grennan responded on X (formerly Twitter): “I’ll be at as many of the Cov games I can get to. Like I have been the last 8 seasons.”

Additionally, Grennan revealed his plans to support the George Curtis and John Sillett statue fund by contributing the remaining £10,000 needed to commission the statue. “I’ll also be paying the difference left to get the George and John statue built,” he said. “But silly, this. Got plenty of friends in football at various clubs, and I’ve also been very clear about my affection for the club and the community.”

The fund was £12,000 short of its £200,000 target at the start of the week, but a surge of donations, including Grennan’s contribution, helped reach the goal. Joe Elliott, chairman of the statue fundraising committee, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Tom’s fantastic donation has got us to where we want to be. We are so happy with Tom and John Dawkins, his manager, for the passion and generosity they have shown in making this donation.”
