Derby County’s bid for goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterström has been rejected by Djurgårdens IF, who insist Derby must significantly increase their offer.

According to Sportbladet, Derby’s initial bid fell far short of Djurgårdens IF’s valuation of the player. The Swedish club is not currently considering selling Zetterström, who has impressed in the Allsvenskan and attracted interest from multiple clubs.

Derby has shown concrete interest and contacted Djurgårdens IF to state their willingness to negotiate, though the exact figure of the bid remains undisclosed. However, the offer was deemed insufficient, and the parties remain far apart in their negotiations.

Djurgårdens IF would require a substantial offer to part with Zetterström, but club chief Bosse Andersson has acknowledged the growing interest in the goalkeeper and hinted that the right bid could prompt a sale.

“You notice that the interest in Jacob has increased and there are a couple of clubs that we have been in contact with,” Andersson said. “If there’s something really good about Jacob, we’ll work it out, but it’s not something that’s relevant right now. But there is interest in him.”
